Description
1765 Bonne Homme Richard Sail Ship Blueprint. Bonhomme Richard, formerly Duc de Duras, was a warship in the Continental Navy. She was originally an East Indiaman, a merchant ship built in France for the French East India Company in 1765, for service between France and the Orient. She was placed at the disposal of John Paul Jones in 1779, by King Louis XVI of France. The Bonhomme Richard sank on 25 September 1779.
The original color print has a white border around it and the drawing itself has uneven edges on that white border. This is how the original is and gives it that authentic old look. The parchment background color and grid / graph paper background do not have white borders.
The original scanned image was digitally restored and cleaned up by me. During this process I adjust the colors, the exposure and fix any blemishes on the print. However, I do not retouch everything in order to maintain the vintage poster look. This ensures that this reproduction looks as good as possible and produces a high quality print – while maintaining a historical accuracy in its look.
WHAT MAKES MY PRINTS DIFFERENT
Sure, you might find similar pictures elsewhere but not all prints are equal. I don’t use regular printers and paper to print this art. Instead, I use a high end lab and the prints are made on professional photo printers using high quality a archival inks and acid-free archival Lustre paper. Lustre is a premium finish on a heavier paper and offers the vibrant colors of glossy with the fingerprint-resistant finish of matte. This type of finish avoids glare on the print.
Prints are available in all popular sizes. You can select your size while you order.
My listing photos are low resolution. Original high resolution files are used for printing. My pictures are not framed and do not include a frame. Some of the pictures with frames are just for illustration purposes only.
